關於 http://taiwan-linux.tca.org.tw/index.php?doc=show4_4 這個網頁上的 Linux 萬人盟主爭奪賽
在第 3. 活動規則部份, "Linux 考古天書" "Linux 龍門客棧" "Linux 武林天下" "Linux 修練成果" 等連結圖示
很遺憾的,用 Linux 下最普遍的 Firefox 瀏覽器,卻是無法點選的 (需要 IE 才行)
在名義上為 "Linux萬人盟主爭奪賽問題",但實際上使用 Linux 的使用者,卻不得其門而入
目前 Linux 上還沒有一個瀏覽器可以點進該連結的
這不是很諷刺嗎?
因此,能否請貴單位修改一下網頁程式,以符合 W3C 的規定,建立無障礙的網頁
讓使用各種不同瀏覽器的使用者都可以瀏覽

Relax a bit.

There are situations where Firefox won't work...
Let's face it, still 80+ percent of browser is Internet Explorer, and it is the default browser in Windows platform. You can't people testing their webpages for MSIE.

這位 ants 兄，您似乎搞不清楚狀況就回答呢。建議您先去看看那個網站後，再來提出您的批評。

那個網站號稱『Linux taiwan 促進會』，這個名字其實就有很大的問題，因為他不是在推廣 Linux 這個核心，是想推廣 Linux 這個核心可帶來的商機。但是又搞不清楚 Linux 和 GNU/Linux 和 FS 的關係，所已變成什麼都混在一起，什麼都不像的東西。

重點不在於， IE 是否是目前世界上最多人使用的 browser，重點是，一個遵守其他 standard 的 browser 根本無法開啟他們網站的內容。主要原因是什麼？如果你有親自去看過，你會發現，那個網站使用的是 IE ActiveX 的技術！這是不是很諷刺，我想不需要其他人多說啥，您也一定開始感覺到很『諷刺』才對了吧？

請您，不要把這個主題的焦點從他原本所在轉移到 IE vs FireFox， FireFox vs Other browsers under Linux 等等..

I checked there. The website is a bit commercialised, but works fine.

Linux is closely related to GNU licensing, but Linux and Firefox has no direct relation.

Just a bit curious, coz obviously, you can view the contents of that site w/o any pb? Might to tell us, which browser do you use to check the page (as you said, you checked it), that support the activeX under GNU/Linux??

This might help a lot many ppl out there who cant browse those IE only site :)

However, the previous poster was complaining about the issue with Firefox.

Just to give you one fact.
Mac OS X is the most popular UNIX-based operating system sold.
Mac OS X is based on open source called "Darwin" which is based on FreeBSD, a variation of UNIX. How good is the selling of UNIX?
There are plenty of proprietary technologies in OS X.

There's nothing wrong with proprietary technologies. I failed to see how everything can be GNU or open sourced and everybody can still get paid.

You can add Safari users, Safari is based on KHTML rendering engine.

you just miss the point, dont you?

The complain is about, a "Taiwan Linux 促進會" which is promoting Linux SOFTWARE（請注意，這邊的 linux 不是 kernel linux，如果你有看過他們網站，你該知道我想說啥，如果沒，請現在去好好看過後再來回答，我們的對話會比較容易有交集, but IRONICALLY can't be view correctly with any web browers un der Linux.

And you JUST DONT GET THE POITN! And since you seem to be interested by this topic, but not willing to spend more time to understand the why and how of this complain, plz allow me to tell you where is the POINT of this complain.

Let me point you to their tutorials first,

now, plz allow me to tell you, they are using a program named : "PowerCam" to take the slides, and checking on the PowerCam's site, we can read this :

That means, if I want to learn more about Linux (and FS in general, check on their tutorials, they are not only linux the kernel-centric), I HAVE TO use IE, and more over, I HAVE to ENABLE my IE's ActiveX. This is where the complains come from!! You (the site) telling me how good how great how wonderful and how nice the Linux (and FS in general) is, and now, splash, you want to know how so? PLZ USE IE and DONT FORGET to ENABLE the ActiveX first!!

what?! is this a joke?

AND AGAIN.. HOW COME YOU JUST LIKE TO SWITCH THE TOPIC FROM ONE TO OTHERS? WHO IS TALKING ABOUT MAC OS X?

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT Linux (ACTUALLY IT SHOULD BE FS) and its PROMOTIONS, AREn't WE?

there is nothing wrong by using a property technology to respond to our needs, there is something SO IRONIC to use property technology in a site promoting LINUX (again, FS in general)

and if you really dont want to read that discussion, maybe just check on the first one, and try to reply to their quizz, you will have already a good idea about what we are talking on here..

我在 Mac OS X 上用 Safari 去看那個網頁是可以點選進去的

但是,請注意,那個是 "Linux" 萬人爭奪賽耶
可不是 "Mac OS X" 萬人爭奪賽
連使用 Linux 的使用者都無法瀏覽該網頁
那不是在搞笑,不然是什麼?

ants 兄.... 該網站用了綁 windows 平台的技術，然後它的目的是推廣 GNU/Linux，可是 GNU/Linux 上不能用啊....orz

如果換成是 "Mac OS X 促進會" 來辦了一個活動，結果該網頁用了一個 OS X 不支援的網路核心技術，造成你的 browser 不能用，你做何感想??

將心比心啦.... :)
