報導引用的是測試者Sam Allen所發表的Firefox 3 Memory Benchmarks and Comparison
作者本身是個開發員, 這次的測試也是使用作者自己撰寫的工具"Memory Watcher", 為各個瀏覽器以近三個小時時間, 每三秒鐘取得一次數據.
測試環境是 Vista SP1, 3.0GB RAM. 各瀏覽器皆有 plugins(主要是Flash)但不裝任何套件或外掛. 作者表示這是效能比較用數據而非壓力測試, 所以設定的條件是至多開4個視窗並各開三個分頁, 另外使用的網頁也避開含大量圖形與測試用的網站.
