The traditional browser plug-in model has enabled tremendous innovation on the web, but it also presents challenges for both plug-ins and browsers. The browser plug-in interface is loosely specified, limited in capability and varies across browsers and operating systems. This can lead to incompatibilities, reduction in performance and some security headaches.

That’s why we are working with Adobe, Mozilla and the broader community to help define the next generation browser plug-in API. This new API aims to address the shortcomings of the current browser plug-in model. There is much to do and we’re eager to get started.

蘋果公司或許主張排斥Adobe的Flash Player，但Google務實地決定，要在其Chrome瀏覽器內建這項軟體。

Google 30日在其Chromium部落格宣布納入Flash。近幾個月來，該公司一直在進行一項提升Flash外掛安全性的相關計畫。Google要讓網路成為應用軟體的執行平台，但不希望外掛程式造成安全和當機問題。

Google具體表示，將先伴隨Chrome提供Flash，並會提供自動更新，最終將Flash納入Chrome沙盒，進一步掌控其風險。

外界對此並不意外。首先，ZDNet記者Larry Dignan已在29日率先報導這項消息。但甚至早在去年7月，Google便透露Adobe是其Chrome OS瀏覽器作業系統的伙伴之一。那就保證Flash會在Chrome OS佔有一席之地。

我想 Mozilla 不是沒有人力，而是卡在版權問題。除非 Flash Player 變 Open Source，不然 Firefox 頂多只能做到自動下載安裝，不可能內建。

看來 Adobe 最近來勢洶洶，野心很大，真的想讓 Flash 能夠稱覇各平台。可能是被蘋果的 iPad 不支援 Flash 刺激到了。

There is much to do and we’re eager to get started. 簡單說就是GOOGLE、MOZILLA跟一些公司合作，研發最新的PLUGIN系統，與OS無關且能多緒、沙盒等的支援，初步成品就是剛推出的DEV版CHROME。執行時加個「--enable-internal-flash」指令即可啟動，進入about:plugins時會發現多一個內建FLASH(路徑是GC資料夾下)。實際用時穩定度跟校能與一般安裝版的FLASH差不多，實驗階段也尚無上述的優點，目前僅有的好處是可攜版會比較省事? 另外感想是估狗果然人力資源有夠，MOZILLA也加入但離FF版的實驗品推出還有相當距離。

我想 Mozilla 不是沒有人力，而是卡在版權問題。除非 Flash Player 變 Open Source，不然 Firefox 頂多只能做到自動下載安裝，不可能內建。看來 Adobe 最近來勢洶洶，野心很大，真的想讓 Flash 能夠稱覇各平台。可能是被蘋果的 iPad 不支援 Flash 刺激到了。
