I have not yet had the chance to touch BSD*, however, how about upgrading through FreeBSD's port system?? Though BSD* and Linux* are both open source and unix-like opearting system, I consider they have totally different culture, architecture and philosophy. Mmmm, I think I should left the rest of the question to BSD* users, however try "port" first... |

(1) FreeBSD 用Linux emulator 可以跑 Firefox/Mozilla/... (2) ports 裡面都建好了，麻煩自己找一下有 'linux' 的就是 (3) for those not familiar with FreeBSD, let me try to explain why people want to run 'Linux' binary on FreeBSD. The major reason is, Linux is much more well known and supported to some companies and has rich resource. Take Macromedia flash for example, we do have Mozilla and Firefox native builds on FreeBSD with Flash 4 but if you want to play Flash 6 then you must use linux binary mozilla + linux flash player. |

了解了, 原來門戶之間確實還是存在定見或者競爭的, 希望有一天能 open、自由到不管 end-user 選擇任何作業系統、瀏覽器, 都能無障礙使用、瀏覽日常生活常用的功能, 例如文書處理、全球資訊網等... : ) |
