我用中文版的 MacOSX 10.5 玩上面的用系統預設字
會狂掉字，可是把界面硬設別的字型就不會掉字了，真的很討厭
日文版抓下來試不會掉字，但可能是因為日文版用的字型不同。

跟 gugod (感謝他)一起做了一些測試，得到非常奇怪的結果與結論
(1) TB 找字型畫字的順序完全不照 System Preference 裡的順序
(2) 界面上的字型預設似乎是用簡中字體 STHeiti (放大後可看出來)
(3) 雖說如此，簡中內有的部份字型還是會掉字 (我們都是用 Tiger 所以簡中字型內含字元比較多)

總之得到的結論是，用 userChrome.css 硬設字體有效
或是從 intl.css 蓋掉也有效
所以接下來會往這方向調整，TB 看來可以不掉字了

不過由於 Mac 版目前與其它平台的獨立處不夠多，
包括像「OK」要翻成「好」的部份，可能還要再想想怎麼做
(我的意思是，在官方編譯時，因為這些東西是與其它平台
共享的，所以無法為 Mac 獨立產生不同結果)

Use English as your default Mac OS X language, and you will be fine.

If I were to use Chinese version of OS X, I won't be happy with "unified" translation.

研究了半天發現日本 (ja-JP) 也有看起來很像想解決同樣問題的東西
所以他們只好另開一個 ja-JP-mac
或許我們也要一個 zh-TW-mac 吧...

Is the missing character in user interface (UI) or also in the webpages/emails (content)?

我也沒有掉字的現象（暫時）

我一直碰到掉字...
我用的是EN版的thunderbird 1.0.5

用在macintosh os x 10.4.2

打英文信當然是沒有問題
但是打中文打的字一多就開始掉字了

想請問一下...
看前面看不太懂...
到底為什麼會掉字呢？？
在編輯信件的時候好像也沒辦法更改字的字型

為什麼會這樣呢？

想再請問一下....有沒有辦法新增動畫讓寄件時除了那個狀態列connecting to smtp.....的視窗之外...
有沒有辦法做動畫像是you've got mail的一樣有封裝成信封然後蓋郵籤然後寄出去的那種動畫？？

Which model is your Mac? and how much RAM do you have? Do you set Chinese as your default language for Mac OS X?

I don't have any missing character problems with Firefox and Thunderbird (both English and Chinese) on my two Macs.
(Power Mac G4 dual 1.42GHz, 2GB RAM)
(PowerBook G4 12" 1.33GHz, 1.25GB RAM)

Well...
my mac is an ibook G4 12"
with 768MB RAM and with mac os x 10.4.2
my default language is English..
i just like to make my computer look as a different language

i still have somemissing character now and then..
early "yesterday" i was trying to write email to a professor...i can't complete the entire mail because of missing characters.

it was quite serious.....or i normally ignore it... but it just got too bad...

Have you tried something basic? Repair permissions?

Do you experience same problem with Safari and Mail (Mail.app)?
A temporary workaround is to use Safari and Mail.

Well....normally i repair my permissions every other week...
and i just tried it, and it didn't work out..

well...
safari surely don't have that kind of problem..none that i have encountered.
but i know there are more websites that are wrongly displayed than those are in firefox..

i haven't tried mail..
i just don't like it...
don't know why...

maybe i'll use it before the problem works out.
