When use MSIE engine, it will carry all the bugs and security vulnerabilities from MSIE engine, hence updating MSIE (Windows) is still required. When use Gecko rendering engine... it will have all the security vulnerabilities from Gecko (Firefox) as well.

However, either engine you selected, you will have additional security as Netscape 8 provides additional safeguards. You can disable certain certain functions.

Browsing with Firefox is not necessary safer.
